Even when you are walking in a deserted forest, with no one around you, a faint sound comes from behind. Sometimes it is so scary that it gives goosebumps. It feels like someone is calling your name. We feel that some ghost is following us. Some soul is wandering, trying to talk. But what is the truth? Where do strange sounds come from in a deserted forest? Scientists have found the reason for this.
According to the report of Live Science, there is neither any soul nor any ghost there. Voices coming from behind or any kind of noise is caused by ‘Auditory Pareidolia’. The source of this noise is different sounds. Like the sound coming from a fan, flowing water, the sound of an aeroplane, the hum of a washing machine or anything else. According to audiologists, due to these sounds, a special kind of pattern is formed in our brain, due to which we hear these sounds.
It is also called musical ear syndrome.
You might be thinking that I am talking about hallucination, but ‘auditory pareidolia’ is not a hallucination at all. This happens when you hear sounds that are not actually there. In the language of science, it is also called musical ear syndrome. Most of the people who are victims of this feel that someone is keeping an eye on them, whereas in reality this is not the case at all.
What is this evil after all?
Neil Bauman, CEO of Center for Hearing Loss Help, said, our brain has a huge database. It has a set pattern. Out of whatever sound we hear, or whatever word we know, it selects only those words which seem good according to its pattern. He captures it. Words start resonating in the mind according to the pattern of the situation that the brain sees. As we feel, the same picture reaches the brain and it selects the words. Where the pattern will be slightly different, the sound will also be different.
